======Eliminator====== **Eliminator** is a mode in the WipEout series where the general goal is to cause as much damage as possible and eliminate your opponents using the games' vast arsenal of weapons. **Eliminator** is formally featured in WipEout Pulse, WipEout HD and WipEout 2048 (called **Combat**), and is informally featured in some older games in the form of special challenges. ---- =====In WipEout Pulse===== Use every weapon at your disposal to eliminate a certain number of opponents before anyone else. [] Eliminating other contenders moves you higher on the scoreboard, with the first person to reach the elimination target winning. **Turbo**, **Shield** and **Autopilot** items are disabled in **Eliminator**, and the **Weapon Pads** have no cooldown, although the player can't get an item from the same **Weapon Pad** more than once until they go over another. Weapons can be absorbed to briefly erect a shield around the ship, preventing any damage. All ships in the event will use a dedicated Eliminator livery. **Eliminator** can be played against AI, with the ability to set the target to between 5 and 25 kills in increments of 5. **Multiplayer** was originally supposed to feature **Eliminator**, as evidenced by a loading screen[[#References / Sources|[1]]], but the mode was cut last moment. It can still be played online via modding, though the mode is quite buggy. ---- =====In WipEout HD===== [] Make the most out of **WipEout HD**'s weapon system and tear your way through other pilots. In **WipEout HD**'s rendition of the mode, the objective is to //score points//. Instead of rewarding pilots for getting kills like the mode did in its previous appearances in the WipEout series, **WipEout HD** gives points for //any// hits to other contenders, as well as for completing laps. The player is given the option to perform a **Combat Spin** by hitting a button - //R1// by default - to quickly spin their ship 180° and fire weapon at someone behind, or meet their opponents halfway if they pulled away. Notably, this also intentionally allows **Quakes** to be fired backwards - something that isn't possible in other modes. **Eliminator** can be played against AI or online opponents that also own the **Fury** DLC, with the ability to set the target to between 200 and 600 points in increments of 20 points. ---- =====In WipEout 2048===== Score as many points as possible within the time limit, or reach the target score first, by causing as much damage as possible to others. WipEout 2048 renamed the mode to **Combat**. **Combat** shares many similarities with **Eliminator** in WipEout HD: **Weapon Pads** don't have a cooldown, the player is allowed to **Combat Spin** (this time by pushing up on the right analog stick), and **Quakes** can be fired backwards. But it also introduced a few changes, with rules varying between Single Player and Multiplayer. In Single Player, **Combat** events have a time limit, with the player having to score enough points for the **Pass** and **Elite Pass** objectives. As such, the event can still be won even if an opponent has a higher score. Absorbing now restores the ship's energy like in **Single Race**. In Multiplayer, the players have to reach a target score: the first person in the event to do that wins. Absorbing does //not// restore any energy, instead simply ditching the weapon. To achieve a **Pass** or an **Elite Pass** in the Online Campaign, you must complete the objectives that are displayed on the left side of the screen. The pool of available weapons can vary between events, as well as being affected by the **Ship Class** chosen by the player. ===== References / Sources ===== - According to "Take your races online and prove yourself against friends and opponents in races, tournaments and the action packed eliminator events!"
