Triakis

Triakis is an AG racing team with multinational headquarters, but primarily based in Australia. They were introduced in WipEout Pure.

With its corporate roots in multinational defense contracting, Triakis was seemingly also linked to the provision of equipment behind the scenes of the FX150 Amateur Racing League. Announcing their intent to enter the FX300 in 2197, it was apparent to many that the company was seeking to repurpose its military hardware for competitive AG racing. However, former pilot Kelvin Sheena (dismissed from a Triakis-affiliated amateur team in the FX150) publicly condemned Triakis as ill-equipped to handling the dangers inherent in AG racing and taunting that they should stick to supplying weapons and armour for warmongers, before his mysterious disappearance in 2195.

The Triakis racing team would introduce themselves alongside Harimau, a team with a philosophy which couldn't be any more different. Media spin suggested heavily that it was using the spectacle of the sport as a promotional sales pitch for its arms business, and their early ships leaned into the image of durability and aggression. The ships were controversially compared to a hovertank when set against their competitors, the core aspects of their design being heavy-duty armour and energy shielding which was second-to-none as well as a high-output engine just shy of Piranha's raw power, but with the drawbacks of slow acceleration and sluggish flight control.

The key to many of their FX300 successes, however, were found to be in their unique “reverse-inertia decceleration damping system”, which allowed the ships to maintain speeds and even accelerate through corners far beyond what was immediately evident in the ship's simulated flight characteristics. The AG Racing Commission considered this technology to be illegal according to their technical regulations, and stripped Triakis of the 2206 FX300 Championship title as a result. With the FX350 and FX400 in mind, their revised chassis without this reverse-inertia system was considerably less stable on cornering but remained the top-tier in defensive strength.

Standard Chassis

This ship is perhaps the most challenging to get good results, owing to its extremely heavy flight control. Formidable force in slower Speed Classes and high-speed open circuits where momentum and survivability outweigh agility, though it demands skill and commitment on racing lines.

Fury Prototype Chassis

With its Thrust and Handling weaknesses almost removed, this ship has been elevated to a much more competitive level, capable of directly challenging Piranha's raw power.
