They only appeared in Wipeout Fusion. EG-R's exact origins are unknown, but they became a leading Chinese cybernetics manufacturer even before they set their sights on AG racing. With a corporate ethos rooted in technocracy and secrecy, the team was well-known for refusing to engage with public discourse and being one of the most fiercely-guarded teams in the F9000 League. Team communications tended to be rare, and were often combative, accusing rival teams of espionage or of poaching staff and pilots. Challenges from the F9000 Racing Commission regarding data transparency were even met with roadblocks and legal rebuttals at every turn, reinforcing a belief that the company's innovations were not subject to scrutiny even from racing league stewards. Their slogan, “Creating a New Age of Civilisation,” hinted at grander ambitions beyond the track, as it appeared that the cybernetics allowed pilots to directly integrate into their ships to become one being, a revolutionary technology which could in-theory extend to nearly all things in an age of continuing technological progress. However, due to their extensive full-body and cranial cybernetic implants, and the often ludicrous nature of the circumstances in which they were unable to recall any memory of their prior life before their cybernetics, the autonomy of their pilots was regularly called into question - questions which were quashed each time by Article XXIVb.c/34 subsection 84839D of the World Peace Council's amendment to the Universal Declaration of Sporting Rights, in which the team would reserve the right to withhold information about pilot personal data. Through the corporate and legal veil, however, it was clear that EG-R was a team dedicated to unique control systems, acceleration and combat, and they remained competitive up until the fall of the F9000. To survive the financial fallout, EG-R merged with Xios in 2172, forming EG-X.
